AUTUMN 2025

Finnish artist Marjo Lampila´s exhibition " A Mystery even to Myself"  will start our autumn season of  2025. Welcome to the openings on 6.8.2025 from 18.00!

A MYSTERY EVEN TO MYSELF

When Lampila starts, she doesn't know what kind of artwork will be created. It's an adventure, it's a trust, it's an inner journey. As in life, sometimes the journey goes smoothly and sometimes there are challenges along the way. Lampila describes her creation as a fun journey of discovery because it is a mystery even to herself. It's an inner feeling or space that wants to become visible. She enjoys the journey and get strength and energy from art creation. Once she has got the plot of the work, work she very consciously add details, landscapes, plants, characters or objects to her art.

Marjo Lampila has begun the art for “A Mystery Even for Myself” by applying liquid ink, acrylic ink and aquarelle paint to partially dampened watercolor paper. Once the base was dry, the work told its own story and led her into a world of discoveries, details, landscapes, characters and stories. She complete her artworks with fibre tip and gel pens. This has resulted in both abstract and representational worlds that can be realistic and unrealistic, mystical, dreamlike, decorative and layered. The viewer can continue to discover new characters and stories based on his/her own experience and mood.

Lampila enjoys the fact that her artworks are still mysteries when they are finished, as each viewer finds their own world and story in her artworks. She is fascinated by those stories, which is why she wants to meet as many visitors to the exhibition as possible.

Marjo Lampila will also share her mysterious journey on her Instagram account @art_marjolampila

Z umělecké tvorby získává další sílu a energii. Ve chvíli, kdy se jí dílo začne zjevovat v jasnějších obrysech, vědomě do něj přidává detaily krajiny - rostliny, postavy či předměty.

Práce na výtvarném díle "Sama sobě záhadou" začaly nanášením tekuté tuše a akrylové i akvarelové barvy na částečně navlhčený akvarelový papír. Během zasychání podkladu počalo dílo vyprávět svůj vlastní příběh a vedlo autorku do světa nových objevů - krajin, postav, jemných detailů. Svá díla pak dotváří vláknovým hrotem a gelovými pery.

PREVIOUS EXHIBITIONS

LA MORGUE, 3.6.2023- 16.6.2024

Our first, long exhibition LA MORGUE was dedicated to two early pioneers of Scandinavian cubism, Finnish Valle Rosenberg and Swedish Siri Derkert.

Curator Sebastian Derkert-Rosenberg

Who was Valle Rosenberg?

An artist from Porvoo

He was born in Porvoo in 1891 and became one of Finland's first modernists. Like many others of his generation, he was precocious and sought to explore the world very early on. At 14, he left his parents' home and traveled to Helsinki to train as an artist. In 1913, he left Finland and set off for Paris. There, he studied art, socialized with other artists, and met the love of his life, the Swedish artist Siri Derkert. His artistic output isn't very large. He died young, and much of what he painted during his years abroad also disappeared without a trace.

Background

Valdemar Rosenberg was the second oldest of five siblings. His father was a carpenter who worked in various carpentry shops and construction sites in the city. Valle was artistically gifted, sculpting, drawing, and sewing his own clothes. He depicted his social circle in Porvoo in drawings of friends from his early youth. However, the small town seems to have occasionally gotten on his nerves, and he would long for Helsinki during summer holidays. Brondin's café in Helsinki was a meeting point where people gathered to discuss art and the essentials of life.

One hunded years later / Hundra år senare
